In addition to working as the School Media Specialist and Technology Coordinator at a K-6 elementary school for one year, I have one year of experience teaching third grade, two years of experience teaching sixth grade language arts, and one year of experience teaching seventh and eighth grade reading.
When possible, I like to provide differentiated, mastery-based instruction that allows all students to experience success.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (with a minor in Reading) from Illinois State University in 1982. I took courses at Valparaiso University from 2004-2006, which resulted in the addition of a Reading and Language Arts Endorsement to my teaching license.
My name is Polly Wickstrom, and I live in Valparaiso, Indiana. I have been married to my wonderful husband and best friend, Jim (who is also a teacher!) for the past 34 years. Jim and I are the very proud parents of three grown children, ages 27, 29, and 32, living far and wide in Seattle, Washington, Malibu, California, and Istanbul, Turkey. We also have one fantastic son-in-law, and we are absolutely over the moon and completely in love with our incredibly adorable two-year-old grandson! I am the author of 220 Great Children's Books, originally published by Libraries Unlimited, and I have a passion for children's literature.
