Student-Led Conference Reflection Sheet

This reflection sheet is a great way to help middle grade students prepare for student-led conferences. It guides them to reflect on how the semester went overall, their goals moving forward, and what information they might want to share with parent(s) or guardian(s) at conferences. It's designed to be easy for students to complete digitally or on paper and can be posted as an assignment to Google Classroom.

Teaching style

I really like to focus on encouraging students to take ownership for their own learning so that they can move toward being more intrinsically motivated to learn and create over time. I try to do this by allowing as much student choice as I can while still meeting learning objectives and by trying to discover students' interests and motivations so that I can tailor the instructional materials as much as possible. For me, one of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing a student find excitement or genuine interest in the material. When it comes to teaching certain topics, finding that spark can be a challenge, but that just makes it all the more rewarding when students are truly proud of what they've accomplished!
