This reading guide has students reflect on each chapter of A Land Remembered: Volume 1. Responses are in short-answer format. In addition, certain pages require students to identify types of figurative language present in the text. At the end of this unit, I have compiled examples of figurative language from Patrick Smith's novel in the form of a summative assessment.
