This unit includes everything an Intro to TAP class needs to know about foundations to teaching strategies. This unit includes Google Slides notes, several enrichment activities, and reflection questions following a classroom observation.

This assignment requires students to have access to technology. Students will read three of the six provided articles to summarize and apply to their own lives. Students will research evidence of the effect of birth order on personality development. If assigned electronically, students can click the link to access the articles or scan the QR code if printed on paper.

This project is best suited for upper-level Teaching as a Profession students. Students select a standard - created for TN standards, but can be altered to fit any state standard or curriculum - and create two formative and two summative assessments for that standard. By the end of this project, students will have created a portfolio of assessment examples, including explanations and reflections. A grading rubric is included.

This activity is best suited for a TAP I class or a recap activity for TAP II or III. This activity can be used as a summative assessment and would follow direct instruction or small group research and presentations on Instructional Design Models. Students are presented with ten different real-classroom scenarios and must decide which Instructional Design Model is being used, then explain their rationale.

This lesson is designed to span several days. It takes me six 90-minute class periods. This lesson is derived from the UPDATED 2025 TN Standards for Intro to TAP. Students will learn about and apply five effective teaching strategies, including cooperative learning, meaningful feedback, and engagement strategies, to enhance their learning experience. This lesson is from the UPDATED 2025 TAP TN Standards. It includes an overview of different types of learners, an embedded research project to teach to different learning styles, and links to online quizzes for students to investigate their own learning style.

This lesson is designed to explore educator prep. programs at colleges and universities in your surrounding area. Students will explore university webpages to discover admission requirements, programs of study, average yearly tuition, and average length of program completion. Students can complete the assignment via Google Slides/PowerPoint or a poster.

This lesson was developed for a Teaching as a Profession III - Practicum class. This activity encourages students to critically examine the scope and importance of Teacher's Code of Ethics and create their own personal Code of Ethics.

This activity supports instruction for different types of learners. Students are provided with two links to online learning style quizzes to explore their own learning style. Then, students have reflection questions to wrap up the lesson.

This activity promotes lesson planning to include ALL types of learners. It is clearly organized and can be used individually or in pairs as a team-teaching simulation. Students can complete the lesson plan template, then present their lesson to the class for feedback.

This research activity was designed for a Teaching as a Profession III-Practicum course; however, it would benefit any teacher prep. class at the high school level. This activity encourages students to examine the education requirements (degrees, test scores, etc) for a career as an educator. Students will utilize individual college, university, and state websites to discover their "pathway to the classroom."

This assignment is designed for Teaching as a Profession III - Practicum. It encourages students to review key educational concepts from previous levels of TAP at the beginning of the school year. This could also be used as an end-of-year review assignment.
