I like small group learning activities that are fun and standards based. Small group instruction makes learning enjoyable for students and allows for differentiation. Parent volunteers can easily help out by sitting with small groups and giving guidance using well prepared games and activities. Many of the standards based games and activities that I use have either been created by me or purchased on TpT. I know from years of experience that many teachers hesitate to have regular small group activities in their classrooms because it seems like a lot of extra prep work and a management nightmare, but I encourage everyone to try it, get parent volunteers, and stick with it. It really makes a difference in learning.
