Collect important information about your students on these Student Information Cards. I keep these cards in my classroom, so I have it at my finger tips. Email address, cell phone numbers, health or behavior concerns, and students' access to technology is important information I would like to know.Put these out at Open House or send home with important papers that need to be filled out. Everyday in our classrooms students are reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, but do they understand the words they are saying? This product includes suggestions for helping students understand the vocabulary and meaning. The graphic organizer will help students to organize the information and show their understanding. Prefect for the start of the year social studies lesson or use during Freedom Week, on Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Flag Day, or Independence Day.

This project will give your students a chance to work cooperatively, be creative, practice research skills, and learn about the regions of the United States. Students will work in groups to research an assigned region of the U.S. then create a poster with their research. Students present their work to the class and become the "teacher" for the day. In this Open House activity, students decorate one side of a bookmark with their favorite book. On Open House night, I ask the parents to decorate the other side with their favorite book growing up or a favorite book they have read with their child. Students love coming in the next morning to see what their family member has left for them! The Pilgrims loved colorful clothing. They didn't wear black and silver buckles as is often portrayed. Students will read a short piece of informational text and then label the clothing of a Pilgrim boy and girl based on the article. I can not let a year go by without doing this activity with my students. Using the book Silver Packages by Cynthia Rylant, students write letters to family members giving them thanks for something they have done or taught them. Looking for a way to differentiate spelling and/or vocabulary practice? Then this is the product for you! This spring/summer themed board works with a list of 15 spelling/vocabulary words. Students are asked to get to the "core" of a great book by thinking about the theme, moral, or lesson of a fictional story. I have included a reference sheet and a cute apple cut out for the reader's response. This makes a cute seasonal display for fall and the beginning of the school year.
