As a performer myself, I have been studying dance and theatre since I was a child. It is the place I feel the most at home. I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of the theatre in education. Theatre teaches the human condition. It teaches you to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, To gain a new perspective, To think of the world outside your own life. Theatre promotes empathy… a skill we all need in this ever changing world.
My goal for my students is to leave my class with more confidence, a sense of community, and the skills needed for creative problem solving. Good theatre can elicit change, and that is the same for good teaching. My hope is to elicit even some small change in each and every student and for them to feel like a part of something that can make a difference.
