About the store
I’m Teresa! I'm a Kindergarten OCT in Ontario and the face behind the Instagram account joys.of.learning. I also have a diploma in Early Childhood Education and am a certified Forest and Nature School Practitioner through the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada. I have spent time teaching the primary grades but Kinder is my favourite. I spent time learning with Natural Curiosity and Learning for a Sustainable Future and co-facilitating workshops with them a few years ago and valued this learning so much. I worked as a Literacy Partner and Math Coach for a few years with responsibilities in Outdoor Education. My favourite part about these roles was supporting educators and learning so much from each one of them. Then, I decided that I missed the classroom too much so I returned. I am now working in my dream job; at a school that is 5 minutes from home with a large kindergarten population (5 classes) and a forest on site.

Teaching style

I am passionate about play-based learning both inside and out. As my store name suggests, I want children and adults to experience joyful learning. I love being creative and letting the children's interests and enthusiasm drive the direction of our inquiries and play provocations. I feel so fortunate that I get to spend my days with children and love to try new things to engage them in play and provoke thinking. I believe that all ideas are improvable and by sharing ideas, others have helped me improve upon the ideas, provocations, inquiries, and experiences I am offering to students and cocreating with them.

Additional biographical information

When I am not designing playful opportunities for my students, I love our family adventures, gardening, and caring for our chickens.
