About the store
Welcome to my TPT shop; I'm glad you are here! ✨ First-time buyers & followers receive 10% off your purchase! ✨ My educational resources for teachers are creative, practical, innovative, and classroom-tested for middle and high school English, Dual Enrollment Composition Classes, AP Language and Composition, Inclusion classes, Intervention classes, Yearbook/Journalism, and more. What's better? I'm still in the classroom teaching full-time, just like you - experiencing and helping to create those classroom success stories! My education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a minor in English, a Master’s Degree in English, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership. I also have a Principal Licensure. With those degrees, I have been fortunate enough to serve since 2004 in education in the state of Tennessee. I've also served several times as a reader for Advanced Placement Language and Advanced Placement Literature. Throughout those years, I taught English at the middle school, high school, and college levels. For over a decade, I was the yearbook sponsor as well. Those years have been served in rural and suburban settings as well as with students in on-grade level, honors, and inclusion courses, which has given me a unique perspective on students’ learning styles as well as an appreciation for how much of a role a student’s background plays in the educational process. Beyond the classroom, I have served on the state textbook committee, EOC test-writing committees, state writing assessment, and national AP Literature and Language assessment scoring panels, as well as being a Common Core trainer during that phase of Tennessee's educational history. I feel all these opportunities strengthened my teaching strategies and ability to manage multiple pieces of various projects.

Teaching style

I look forward to teaching the students who walk into my classroom every day, and I am passionate about fostering classroom success stories through the lessons, materials, and resources I create -- but most importantly through the relationships that I am fortunate enough to develop. If you were to step into my classroom, you would see engaging, student-centered, collaborative, hands-on, critical thinking. I believe all my products are user-friendly -- keeping the student and teacher in mind. To me, my job is about creating classroom success by teaching students to see, make, and appreciate real-world connections. The world around them is full of opportunity, and I want them to notice that and seize it.

Awards & shining teacher moments

While I have had the honor of being named Teacher of the Year and well as Jostens’s first Most Innovative Adviser of the Year, my true shining teacher moments always include students! During my time in the classroom, I led all my juniors, including our special populations students, to be successful on the state EOC writing test. I have helped students raise their ACT test scores in English alone by as much as six points. Some of my high school students have even earned a perfect score on the English portion of the ACT. On several occasions, I have mentored student teachers and new teachers, and that is also something I am very passionate about. I also take every opportunity I can to collaborate with fellow educators, continue my own learning process, share my experiences at professional conferences, and write for educational journals. Most significantly, though, I am now seeing my former students pursuing the dreams that I saw them dream in my very classroom.

My own education history

Secondary Education BS with a minor in English Masters in English Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership
