This is a scaffolded resources to support students' speaking and writing. Sentence stems scaffold instruction and assessment allowing all students in class to be successful. This resource can be used with various grades, in ILA/ELAR/Reading classes, providing the necessary scaffold to all students but particularly necessary for students in the ESL program.

This resource is useful when you want to promote more student speaking in class. This routine provides structure and the checklist sets clear expectations for students on how to maintain extended academic conversations in the classroom. This resource is very scaffolded and was originally created for students in ESOL/ELDA classes but has been used consistently and successfully by content teachers as well.

This activity can be used as a summative assessment for Julius Caesar or as a fun activity to do with students after reading the play. This activity requires students to showcase their reading and writing skills and is cross-curricular with drama/theater. Shy students can have an option to perform to just the teacher or record their video instead of performing in front of class.
