They use picture clues to "crack the code" to discover what CVC lies behind the mystery stick! Ask your students to identify the first sound they hear in each clue picture and write the letter that represents the sound they hear. Then, have them blend the sounds to determine what will be behind the mystery stick!

I do not use the leveling system with my students! Instead, I use this skill-step pyramid to monitor their progress. I also find this useful when speaking with parents/educators.
