If we can use flashcards for students to learn their math facts, why can't we use them to help students learn their vowel teams? This resource is colorful and fun way for students to practice their vowel team sound so that they can recognize them in words to strengthen their decoding ability.
Teachers need to be taking anecdotal notes while they are teaching a guided reading lesson. This is a simple form that can be used by classroom teachers or for AIS Reading Teachers. Make multiple copies and keep them in a binder so that you use the data to prepare your future guided reading lessons.

Decoding words with a silent or magic E at the end is an important skill in learning to read. For some students, once they are able to master this skill, they struggle with being able to apply this skill while reading text. These fluency cards gradually help students to move from decoding silent E words to phrases and finally to sentences. Also included is a checklist for teachers to monitor and assess students mastery of each flash card. Great for an observation or literacy center!
Main idea is now Central Idea! New name, same concept! Your students can cut and paste this into their reading notebooks for a strategy that helps them to better determine the central idea of a text. They can use it as a reference when they are first learning how to do this important comprehension skill.

One of the activities that helps students learn diphthongs is for them to recognize them, write them down and collect them in one place where they can reread them. This dictionary can be used during and after instruction about diphthongs especially if you are using a decodable text.

We use flashcards for math so why not use them for reading? Here is a set to use as part of teaching blends. If they know the sounds of all of the blends, they will be able to decode better and faster. L-blends, s-blends and r-blends are included as well as some uncommon blends that are often forgotten about.

One of the best books to use as a read-aloud for Groundhog Day is "Groundhog Gets A Say" by Pamela Curtis Swallow. This wonderful book is perfect to practice the skill of summarizing using the SWBST strategy. SWBST (Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then) helps students choose the important information from the text when they summarize.
Do your students struggle to determine which letter is B and which letter is D? Use this resource on your Google Classroom to help them practice determining which letter is which. There is a slide with only the B and D letters and there is also a slide with words that contain the letters B and D.
Students like to know when they are being taken out of the classroom. I use these tags for putting on the desks of students that are pulled for Tier 3 intervention so they know when I am coming to get them. These cards can also be used for AIS math teachers, speech or OT/PT providers to use as well.
