Decoding words with a silent or magic E at the end is an important skill in learning to read. For some students, once they are able to master this skill, they struggle with being able to apply this skill while reading text. These fluency cards gradually help students to move from decoding silent E words to phrases and finally to sentences. Also included is a checklist for teachers to monitor and assess students mastery of each flash card. Great for an observation or literacy center!
Main idea is now Central Idea! New name, same concept! Your students can cut and paste this into their reading notebooks for a strategy that helps them to better determine the central idea of a text. They can use it as a reference when they are first learning how to do this important comprehension skill.

We use flashcards for math so why not use them for reading? Here is a set to use as part of teaching blends. If they know the sounds of all of the blends, they will be able to decode better and faster. L-blends, s-blends and r-blends are included as well as some uncommon blends that are often forgotten about.
It is an important reading skill to determine when and why a character has changed in a story! Here is a digital resource that you can upload to your Google Classroom to determine if students have mastered this skill.
This is a great graphic organizer that is more kid-friendly. It allows the students to see the steps to determine the lesson of the story and then how to determine central message.
Do you need a simple, easy and cheap craft for your students or your kids to make for their grandfathers? This mini-book incorporates reading, writing and art with some sentimental messages as well! You will receive two books, one for Grandpa and one for Papa.

Here is a simple and easy craft for Father’s Day that incorporates reading and writing with some sweet and touching messages for Dad. You will receive two books, one for Dad and one for Daddy.
These two lists are great to use in your ELA notebooks during guided reading and independent reading time. It helps the students to keep track of what books they read and what books they want to read. Students are also able to rate each book they read and determine the genre of the book so that they can easily know what genre they like best.
Here is a fun activity for parents to do with their kids as summer winds down. This is a great way to help teach your child their ABC and what letter sound is heard at the beginning of a word. There is an activity that goes along with letter of the alphabet from letter A to letter Z.
This Summer Reading Tracker is a fun way for kids to keep track of how many books they have read over the summer. Use this tracker to make a goal of how many books they will read. Then the more books they read, the more objects they get to color. It will motivate them to want to read more books to color as many objects as they can!
