Hi, I’m Brian McCoy, a dedicated 6th-grade teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience. Throughout my career, I’ve specialized in math intervention and support for struggling learners, helping students not only catch up but also gain the confidence they need to thrive in math.
I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, from students who need extra practice with foundational skills to those who benefit from enrichment and deeper challenges. My approach is rooted in step-by-step strategies, clear explanations, and engaging problem-solving activities that make math less intimidating and more fun.
All of the resources you’ll find in my store are classroom-tested, built from years of working directly with students and refining methods that actually work. To ensure every learner gets the support they need, my books also include video tutorials that walk students through problems, making even the trickiest concepts easier to understand.

Teaching style
My teaching style focuses on building a strong foundation in the basics while nurturing each child’s academic self-esteem. I believe that when students feel confident in their abilities, they are far more motivated to take on new challenges and grow.
I use step-by-step instruction and scaffolded support so that every learner—whether struggling or excelling—can experience success. Alongside traditional strategies, I also integrate technology and interactive tools whenever possible, making lessons more engaging, relevant, and accessible.
Above all, my goal is to create a learning environment where students not only understand math but also begin to see themselves as capable, confident problem solvers.

A Little About Me
I believe life should be full of learning and fun! Outside the classroom, I enjoy camping, mountain biking, and working out in my home gym. One of my favorite routines is a “Ring Strength” workout using a set of gymnastics rings that hang from my rafters.
Gymnastics has always been a passion of mine—I even competed during college. Since then, I’ve given myself a “super challenge”: every year on my birthday, I perform a press-to-handstand on a chair for my students. I tell them that the day I can no longer do the handstand will be the day I retire from teaching. So far, I’ve made it to 63 years old—and I’m still going strong in the classroom!
