Welcome to Mikey D Teach & SELebration Learning! Our focus is on providing upper elementary resources that are engaging, easy to use, standards-based, and foster a love of learning with your students. We aim to help educators build connections and relationships with our social-emotional learning resources. Additionally, we have many subject-area resources for language arts, social studies, and math. Many of our resources include digital and interactive materials to make your teaching life easier!
I have 18 years of experience teaching upper elementary grade levels (specifically grades 4-6), during which I have developed a deep understanding of social-emotional learning. I currently teach 5th grade math, science, and social studies. In addition to my classroom experience, I am the science and social studies content facilitator for my grade level. My experience has given me insights into how students learn and thrive in the classroom, and I strive to incorporate strong learning practices and SEL into every resource I create. I design resources that are effective, engaging, and tailored to diverse learning needs.

Teaching style
My teaching style is interactive and student-centered, focusing on hands-on learning. Students learn best when they are actively engaged, and my resources reflect this by including plenty of hands-on, interactive activities. In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where students feel empowered to explore and experiment, ensuring that they develop a deep understanding of the subject matter.
By incorporating inquiry-based techniques and PBL, my materials aim to foster critical thinking and creativity, making learning dynamic and enjoyable for all students. I prioritize critical thinking and problem-solving. My resources aim to develop these skills, ensuring that students become independent and innovative thinkers.

I am honored to have received the Teacher of the Year award for building strong relationships with my students & colleagues, and developing strong, inquiry-based units and lessons for my students. This recognition is a significant milestone in my teaching career.
I am an Ohio Master Teacher and a Lead Professional Teacher, and I have received the national ASCD Emerging Leader Award (2018). This recognition and experience motivate me to continue developing resources that are accessible and empowering, ensuring that every student can thrive.
My own education history
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood Education from John Carroll University, and later obtained a dual Master's in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership from Ohio Dominican University.
Additionally, I have certifications for Teacher Leadership and advanced coursework in SEL, trauma-informed teaching, and mathematics.
Additional biographical information
Outside of teaching, I enjoy being outdoors, which often inspires my educational materials. My passion for diversity and equity helps me bring differentiated materials into the classroom, making learning more accessible and meaningful for my students. Additionally, I am involved with ASCD and OhioASCD, which enriches my perspective and enhances my teaching practices. Balancing these interests with my professional life allows me to create well-rounded and diverse resources for educators.
