I began teaching children's church while I was in college and after graduation I taught English Language Arts and Reading in upper elementary, middle, and high school in both private and public schools (wherever the military took us). I now homeschool my daughter for Pre-K and continue to promote literature for all ages. I've been teaching since 2003.
As a Reading Specialist, my style is literacy based. I have always tried a variety of strategies to get students reading and writing to improve their skills. My mission is to motivate reluctant readers and empower teachers and parents to equip their children for the future.
My writing has been published on www.okinawahai.com, www.trip101.com, www.theodysseyonline.com, and my blogs www.mission4walls.com and www.goingandgrowing.wordpress.com.
I attended public elementary school, private middle school, and public high school in San Antonio TX. I went on to get my AA at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio and my BA and MA from University of Texas in San Antonio. I obtained my teaching certifications in 6-12 English, Language Arts and Reading, ESL supplemental, and K-12 Reading Specialist.
I've spent a lot of time in both private and public school classrooms and now I'm experiencing home-school life. I see my work creating lesson plans and writing inspirational posts as a mission to help teachers. I have been there and I've already worn many hats but I'm not finished. I want to provide resources that will really help make other teacher's lives easier as well as encourage them in their inspirational work with young people.
