About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for 14 years and have certifications in AP European History, AP World History, and Gifted Education. I am also the department head of my Social Studies department. I have taught Economics, Government, World History Honors, Humanities, AP World History, AP European History, Civics, US History, and Psychology during my career.

Teaching style

I blend hands-on project-based learning with traditional learning styles. To prepare my AP students for the rigors of college, I blend traditional lecture and note-taking with more engaging activities to bring the materials to life. I believe in primary source analysis in the history classroom and focus on that quite a bit in my curriculum.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was Teacher of the Year for my school in 2013 and have received 2 master's degrees in Education. I am working currently on my National Board accreditation and I serve as the Social Studies department head.

My own education history

I attended Furman University and received a B.A. in History with a Social Studies certification. I went on to receive an M.S. in Educational Theory and Practice and another M.S. in Gifted, Talented, and Creative Education, both from Arkansas State University.
