Distance Rate Time Word Problem Practice (Editable)

Designed to print on a half sheet for composition notebooks. Show the proportional relationship between distance, rate, and time (when time is constant) by using a triangle. Demonstrate how to use the triangle to find the equation to solve each type of problem. Three example problems given, then 9 independent practice problems provided. Problems are simple enough for students that are just beginning to multiply and divide with rational numbers. Editable document and answer key provided.

KE and PE Calculations (Editable)

This is a worksheet/lesson idea for middle school students who are just beginning to consider potential energy and kinetic energy as a system. It has students calculating potential and kinetic energy, however, they will find kinetic energy by subtracting from the mechanical energy of the entire system (i.e. without velocity). Students will then synthesize their understanding by writing how they calculated kinetic energy without velocity and why it is important that the mechanical energy at each

The Mystery Package - Data Analysis & C-E-R

Students are provided a debrief from a crime scene set on Christmas morning as well as a graph showing Fingerprint Similarity Percentages from the Unknown Suspect's fingerprints found on the mystery package and five known suspects. Students are using claim, evidence, and reasoning to choose the most likely suspect that left the mystery package. Students then participate in a class discussion where they must use the evidence that they see and/or calculate to support their claims. My classes had

Fossils and Rock Ages Bell Ringers

At the schools I have worked at we called the beginning activity as bell ringers, warm ups, starters, or do nows. No matter what you call it, these are some great quick activities to get students writing in science class! Students are encouraged to provide a claim and give some evidence to support those claims.

Engineering Challenge - Rollercoaster Loop

Supplies Needed - pipe insulation (each group gets about 3.6 meters of insulation) - one small marble - masking tape - meter stick - triple beam balance (if you have one, if not an average marble has a mass of 5.6 g or 0.0056 kg) Students used the black pipe insulation as a track to build a rollercoaster with a loop. Students aren't allowed to collect supplies until they have proposed heights of the rollercoaster and then calculated the potential energy of the three locations on the di

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Physics Lab (Editable)

Students will devise a boulder booby-trap to take out any fedora-wearing intruders! Students are testing whether the mass or volume of the 'boulder' alters the speed, or if the slope of the ramp alters the speed of the ball. Students will collect data in the data table and create graphs in Excel. Includes a template for students to fill in as they test factors.

Electricity Vocabulary Doodle Notes

I made this product in my second year of teaching and students always remembered it. I would make little booklets for each student and we would come back to this vocabulary list time and time again as we continued our way through the electricity unit. I've included an answer key that I made with students. I would often use my document camera and move through the notes with students in real time. Some pages are upside down in the Google Slide - trust me! This is for ease of printing!

Conservation of Momentum Lab with Marbles

Please do not purchase this unless you have rulers and marbles to do the lab. It requires, one or two rulers to make a small track for the marbles to move on and at least 4 small marbles and one larger marble. This is a worksheet I used for solidifying my student's thinking about the conservation of momentum. They LOVED the lab and the key takeaways at the end really sealed the deal as they were telling me what to write by the end. Great practice of following a procedure, writing a prediction,

About the store

Experience

I have taught middle school math and science for three years now. I have a deep love for both math and science, but my passion is teaching. I'm a lifelong learner, and aspire to inspire my students to be as well.

Teaching style

I have always utilized hands-on, collaborative learning in my classroom. I am now teaching at a constructivist centered school, so I'm learning more about this teaching style and hope to create more resources for other constructivist teachers or teachers hoping to introduce constructivist methods into their traditional classroom repetoire.

My own education history

I have a B.S. in Biology, minor in Business Administration. I have my Masters in Secondary Science Education.

Additional biographical information
