Choosing the correct operation when solving a word problem is a struggle for many students. I created word problem sorts to help students focus on the operation needed. When completing the sort they have to slow down and make a decision before solving.

This t-chart can be used by students to complete cause and effect relationships in the story Wolf Island by Celia Godkin. One side of the chart is filled in for each event. Students must provide the missing cause or effect. I find T charts help students see these relationships. This chart has the effect on the left and the cause on the right. The word because is in the middle. Some of my other cause and effect charts switch the sides and use since in the middle (or have some of each).

About the store
Experience
I have worked in elementary schools for 15 years. I have taught students from K-5th grade. I have been a classroom teacher, technology teacher, media assistant and substitute.
Teaching style
I love hands on activities. In my class we do a lot of centers and creating. I love cut and paste activities. I rely heavily on differentiation to meet the needs of my learners and I also believe in using spiral review as part of my guided math time. I strive to include opportunities for teachers to use differentiation in the products I post in my store. Sections of the resource can be assigned to different groups based on their needs. Easier portions of a resource might be usable in the beginning of the year and more challenging parts toward the end of the year. Many of my resources would still be at least partially usable if you moved up or down a grade level.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I have been considered a teacher leader at my school. I served as team leader on grade levels of 6-9 teachers as well as several committees. I have been pleased to have been requested as a teacher by many students and their parents.
My own education history
Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University
Master's Degree in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte
