Like many of you, I have embraced the Science of Reading approach to language skill development.
One thing I discovered, though, was that there were a limited amount of games that my students could complete without a great deal of front-loading of information. In response, I decided to create my own games for my students to complete.
The benefit of these games is that the format remains the same while the skill level increases. This allows students to feel comfortable playing the games without the intimidation of learning a new game. All of the Go Fish/Concentration cards include visual prompts to help students read from left to right while reminding them when a letter is silent or when two letters make one sound.
