Rachel Colton has created a sequencing activity to accompany Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion. In this activity, students cut out four sentences describing key events in the story and glue them in order on the following page. Each sentence is accompanied by an illustration to help English Language Learners and students who are not yet reading.
After reading Harry the Dirty Dog, students put the cards in order according to what happened first, next, and last. Then students use the pictures to retell the story.
Print and laminate. Student roll two dice (cover the 6 with a sticker to represent zero). Students place one die in each small circle. Students write the numbers on the dice in the equation using expo markers. Students move the two dice to the large circle. Students write the sum in the equation using an expo marker.
Print and laminate. Students choose two number cards (not included). Students place the number cards in the boxes of the addition sentence. Students place counters to match the numbers in the ten frame. Students write the number sentence, including the sum, with expo marker.
This activity was created to supplement Eureka Math Module 1 Lesson 1 with the objective to "Analyze to find two objects that are exactly the same or not exactly the same." Each student is given one card. When the teacher says, "On your mark, get set, go," students move around the room to find the person who has the exact same card. Once students find their match, they stand next to each other. Collect and redistribute the cards to play a second round. Time the students to see if they can f
Students cut out labels for the cat diagram and glue them into the boxes. Pre-draw arrows before making copies or have students draw arrows to the cat.
Print and draw arrows to different parts of the horse. Copy the diagram with labels and give each student one set of word labels. Students cut and glue the words onto the diagram.

This activity was created to replace Eureka Math Module 1 Lesson 1. Students find objects that are similar but not exactly the same. One object is small and the other is big. Students draw a line to connect the objects that are similar but not exactly the same because they are a different size.
Print and laminate or place pages into sheet protectors. Students use an expo marker to write and draw each number. Students use small counters to show the number in a five frame. Students use linking cubes to build the number.
