RoxyGirl Teacher

I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I have also taught 7th Grade Pre-algebra, 7th Grade Life Science, and Honors Algebra and Honors Geometry. I am currently teaching "Math Rockstars" in 8th Grade Common Core Math.

I spend my time creating original and creative lessons and activities that are engaging and meaningful. I create graphic organizers and color-coded guided notes for the students to compile in their Interactive Math Notebooks. These notebooks become an integral part of their mathematical understanding. I try to teach my students to not only "do", but to "think". I encourage them to be "do-inkers". Most importantly all of my lessons are infused with all aspects of technology.

My Professional Development and training includes the following: Marzano, Thinking Maps, G.L.A.D. (Guided Language Acquisition Design), CPM, College Preparatory Mathematics and CCSS and Secondary Common Core Math. I am the Technology Lead Teacher, the 8th Grade Math Department Lead and a Member of the Instructional Leadership Corps.

I have a Multiple Subject Credential and taught elementary grades for 4 years. I taught 7th grade core math/science and found a passion for teaching mathematics. I now have a Single Subject Mathematics Credential. I am currently getting my Master's in Middle School Mathematics Education.
