Experience

Welcome! I’m Samantha, a veteran educator with 15 years of classroom experience, dedicated to transforming the way students experience reading. With a Masters in Education and a decade and a half of teaching under my belt, I’ve spent my career fostering a love of reading in students. Now, my mission is to empower ELA teachers like you to create joyful readers in your own classrooms.

Teaching style

Relationships first. Always.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I had the privilege of writing and running my very own Young Adult Literature elective that was adopted county-wide where I taught. It changed how I view teaching young people to read and now I share what I learned with teachers everywhere.

My own education history

I’m a veteran educator with 15 years of classroom teaching experience. I have my bachelor’s degree from Temple University and my master’s degree from Cabrini University, both located in Philadelphia. I started my career at an alternative high school in Philadelphia and taught there for 8 years. I then spent 7 years teaching at a public high school in rural Maryland. I'm grateful for these diverse experiences because they allowed me to broaden my view on teaching and learning.

Additional biographical information

I'm a Pittsburgh native (Go Steelers!), but I moved to Philadelphia to attend college. I now live in the beautiful state of Maryland with my wonderful daughter. I love reading, coffee, yoga, and being outside. Follow me on social media so we can connect and chat more about books and teaching!
