For an activating strategy before reading the novel Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman, have students answer each question from the chart using sticky notes and post them on the chart. Then share and discuss as a class. After reading the novel, go back and have students add any new ideas or information to each question using different colored sticky notes. Then share and discuss as a class how their perception of a neighborhood and/or community may or may not have changed.
