I’ve been teaching science and math for over 20 years. I currently teach secondary science and design hands-on STEM activities that have been used by classrooms across the country. I also lead a summer Drone and Slot Car Racing camp for middle school students focused on learning how the equipment works and exploring science concepts through hands-on activities.

Experience
I’ve been teaching science and math for over 20 years. I currently teach secondary science and design hands-on STEM activities that have been used by classrooms across the country. I also lead a summer Drone and Slot Car Racing camp for middle school students focused on learning how the equipment works and exploring science concepts through hands-on activities.
Teaching style
Hands-on learning is the core of my classroom. I believe students learn science best when they are building, testing, observing, and explaining results using real materials and clear expectations.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I’ve received multiple Excellence in Education awards in Kalamazoo County. My favorite teaching moments are when students get excited about a hands-on challenge—or when a well-timed science pun earns an eye-roll and a sympathy laugh.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our four children. We love camping, hiking, biking, swimming, and exploring the outdoors—most recently backpacking the Grand Canyon.
