Taters - A fun Genetics Unit - SEL! STEM!
Here's a unit that your students will never forget...and they will learn genetics in the process! Students create a potato creature (a "Tater"), either red or yellow. Then, other traits are added (sex, eye shape, nose, mouth). Students"dress up" their Tater in search of a mate (They may have to fill out a personal Match Ad) All the while, they are using words like phenotype, genotype, recessive, dominant traits. Eventually, they'll mate and produce Tiny Tots using the traits of their parents.
