I have loved my time teaching students in all grades K-8 as an ESL teacher! Prior to this I was an elementary classroom teacher for many years, totalling 17 years of teaching. My classrooms have been diverse, as I've moved from SC to VA to NC. My small town mountain home is the perfect setting to continue to grow and learn as a professional. I love my job and love my students!
Student engagement is a top priority for me! It is so important that students know what they're learning, why, and how it connects to their personal experiences. The more they can collaborate, create, and problem solve, the more they will engage in higher order thinking skills that lead to successful learning. Every student deserves to have access to the information being taught in the general education classroom. When I taught gen. ed., I was constantly wishing I had the time and capacity to effectively modify my lessons and assessments for the English learners and those with learning needs in my class. Now my goal is to produce quality differentiated products that will help you meet every student where they are, without sacrificing content focus or rigor.

I love life in the mountains of Western NC! My teacher husband and I enjoy getting outdoors, gardening, cooking, and serving our church family. I am always a language learner, and always developing a growth mindset to conquer any challenge before me!
