About the store
Teaching has been my calling since 1997, spanning both 5th and 6th grade before I stepped away in 2005 to focus on raising my family. I returned to the classroom in 2018 with fresh eyes, a wealth of life experience, and a renewed passion for the work β€” and I haven't looked back. Back in 5th grade where I started, I've also served as Science Lead, working alongside colleagues to align instruction to the Virginia SOL and drive strong outcomes across the grade level.

About the store

Experience

Teaching has been my calling since 1997, spanning both 5th and 6th grade before I stepped away in 2005 to focus on raising my family. I returned to the classroom in 2018 with fresh eyes, a wealth of life experience, and a renewed passion for the work β€” and I haven't looked back. Back in 5th grade where I started, I've also served as Science Lead, working alongside colleagues to align instruction to the Virginia SOL and drive strong outcomes across the grade level.

Teaching style

II believe every student deserves lessons that are clear, engaging, and connected to the real world β€” and I believe every teacher deserves tools that make delivering those lessons faster, smarter, and more sustainable. My classroom is structured but warm, built on strong scaffolding so all learners can access the content. I'm a big believer in visual learning, which is why my resources feature clean layouts, consistent formatting, and clear organization. I teach to the standards, but I teach to the student first β€” using assessment data to meet kids where they are. What sets my approach apart is my deep investment in AI as a teaching tool. I don't just use AI β€” I study it, experiment with it, and think seriously about how it can transform what happens in the classroom. From lesson planning and differentiation to data analysis and student feedback, AI has the potential to give teachers back their time and their energy. That belief drives everything I create.

My own education history

I am a proud Virginia native and a Longwood University graduate, where I earned my degree in Liberal Studies with minors in Social Science, Math, Natural Science, and English. That broad academic foundation is a big part of why I love teaching across subjects β€” and why you'll find resources from me in math, ELA, and science alike. I hold a K–8 teaching certification.

Additional biographical information

Outside of the classroom, I'm a dedicated wife and mom who loves cheering my kids on from the sidelines β€” whether it's a tennis match, a field hockey game, or a baseball diamond, you'll find me there rooting them on. I also have a passion for the financial markets and am an active day trader, which has sharpened my analytical thinking and love of strategy in ways that absolutely show up in how I teach. You can always find me on my website www.thepromptteacher.com and my Youtube Channel The Prompt Teacher in the Summer of 2026!
