About the store
Experience
We're speech and language therapists, Carrie (in Austin, Texas) and Gillian (in London, UK). Together we have over 40 years of experience with all areas of childhood speech and language and are excited to share our favorite resources with YOU! Our goal is to make therapy FUN, functional and hassle-free.
My own education history
Gillian received her BSC in Speech-Langauge Pathology from Edinburgh Queen Margaret College and is RCSLT and HCPC certified. She's worked in the NHS and private sector with specialities in Cerebral Palsy, dysphagia, AAC and special interest in articulation.
Carrie received her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Memphis and is ASHA, RCSLT and HCPC certified with special interest in AAC.
Additional biographical information
In 2015, Carrie and her family relocated to London, UK for her husband's job. Unbeknownst to her, she'd soon meet her dear friend and mentor, Gillian, when they became co-SLPs working at an an amazing Special Needs School in London.
Carrie and Gillian were constantly working to create and use speech and language resources for their students to use not only in therapy, but across the school day and at home! Out of this labor of love for their complex needs students, The Speech Shop was born! In 2020, just as the Pandemic began, Carrie and her family repatriated to Texas, but the collaboration, teamwork and love for their students remained!
Today, Gillian continues to work at the same beloved London Special Needs School, while Carrie is an SLP in a public school outside of Austin, Texas. Their friendship and professional collaboration literally knows no bounds, and they continue to develop and share their love for speech and language with you!
