I have been teaching for twenty-two years. I have taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. I have also worked with various other grades through tutoring and reading programs.
I think my teaching style is the right mix of fun and seriousness. I expect my students to behave in certain ways, and when they do, we can have lots of fun! Once students know exactly what is expected, it's much easier to have fun and still maintain an atmosphere of learning. I am well known for creating my own materials to go with whatever curriculum we are using. I enjoy making activities that go beyond worksheets!
I've earned several grants for my classroom through Junior League and DonorsChoose.org. I was nominated for The Heart of Education Award in 2017 and 2018.
I have a Master's Degree in Education.
Throughout my years of teaching, I have presented at many staff developments at my various schools. I have been a mentor teacher and also hosted several observation students from local teaching colleges. I have been a master teacher for two student teachers and I love it!
