The Heart
In this activity, students help Edison and Doris investigate the human heart. Students will squeeze a tennis ball to demonstrate the strength of the human heart. Working in teams, they will think of ways to keep the heart beating if the natural mechanism were to fail. The goal of this activity is to get students to understand the strength and resilience of the heart while thinking like a biomedical engineer. Engineers design instruments to help (or replace) the heart when something goes wrong.
