In this PowerPoint presentation, students will learn how conjunctions work in sentences. In addition, students will be able to put their knowledge to the test with quiz questions embedded in the PowerPoint.
Students make their own quiz questions to give to a classmate to take. This activity is more cognitively demanding than it might seem--students have to create problems that fit the requirements (no regrouping, regrouping, and word problems) and also solve all of their own problems to make an answer key (on a separate sheet of paper) to check their classmate's work. Disagreements are a great opportunity to encourage math discourse.

This quiz is a fun and funny way to get students to realize they need to pay attention to directions.
There is a list of numerous steps to complete, which can actually be fun for students. HOWEVER, the first step says to "read all directions before continuing" and the last step says "only do..." so most students mess this up and do all the steps as they go along. Then you can give them the lesson at the end :)
