An introduction to basic baking ratios and how to convert them. Questions have the student calculate the ratios, convert the recipes (eg. doubling it), then calculating the ratios again to develop an understanding of how increasing or reducing a recipe should maintain the same ratios.

A simple table for practicing sales tax estimation and calculations. There are 6 examples provided, and it's easy to change or add to the table. This activity was done with my grade 7 class as a quick practice review for remote learning. A brief lesson on how to estimate was taught, as well as the footnote reminder was made on the two pages. In this project, the student should take a tape measure, ruler, or yardstick and measure the lengths of the walls of their bedroom. They add the measurements and compute the perimeter. Then they ask an adult or older sibling to do the same. Finally, they calculate the percent error based on the parent's / older sibling's measurements. This is a great "distance learning" project.
