Research: Endangered Species (G.L.A.D. Expert Groups)
Using the Guided Language Acquisition Design strategy, Expert Groups, I have written 10 pages of informational text. There are 5 different content areas that are present in the informational text for the teacher to guide the students in reading / annotating in a small group setting. This can take 20-35 minutes depending on the skills and needs of the students. To complete the notes, I may recommend complete these in 2 sessions of 20 minutes each. GarageBand Found Sound Music Activity! Fun And Interactive Music Lesson!
As an itinerant music teacher, it is hard to find ways to incorporate instruments in the classroom. That is why I strive to use what is around us to teach musical concepts. I am lucky my students have access to garage band so I thought why not use the tools available and create a lesson on found sound! This lesson is perfect for homeschool students or if you are trying to incorporate more music technology in your classes!

Music Vocabulary Warm-up (2 minutes)
I start most of my elementary classes with this quick warm-up! It's series of music vocabulary with intentionally crafted definitions that are based on the Kodály Method. Each definition is paired with a easy-to remember rhythm and/or melody that can reinforce musical learning in all areas. This activity can be student-led, and used to both introduce and reinforce concepts. It is also easy for a substitute teacher to follow if needed.
