You could also use this lesson when studying simple machines because the atlatl makes for a system of levers that improves the throw. This relay race is based on different animal movements from animals that span the Timeline of Life. There are several examples included with each era, but feel free to include your own. Students will love replicating all the funky and strange movements from animals that they are studying on the Timeline of Life from the Montessori Second Great Lesson: Coming of Life.
