As students learn about behavioral and structural adaptations of plants and animals, they bring in "junk" from home. Junk could include empty milk containers, empty boxes, duct tape, popsicle sticks, toothpicks, straws, googly eyes, stickers, pipe cleaners, tissue paper, construction paper, and foam pieces. Using that junk they create a new creature that lives in water. They must think about the mouth design, the body shape, the way it gets food and avoids being food, and many other adaptations.
