Playdough mats are a great way to increase fine motor skills, talking points for lessons, and independent activities that can be used over and over again. Playdough mats can be used in small group settings or choice time activities for students. In my classroom I use this in conjunction with the Tree Study and we talk about fruits that do and do not grow on trees. I print and laminate the cards and they can be used year after year. Fun with shapes and playdoh

This is a fun activity to do with small children. With the playdoh, they have to make the shape and place it inside the shape. This promotes and increases fine motor skills and manipulation. If you feel the playdoh is too easy or simply want to change the activity, allow the child to make a shape within the lines of the shape, without any deviation. This activity also promotes visual motor integration, which in the long run helps with their handwriting skills. Materials: Crayons and Playdoh
