4 Point Written Response Rubric
This 4 point Written Response Rubric can be used for any discipline and with a variety of lessons.
I have used bullet points and simplified language so that it is student-friendly and easy to read.
Color coding helps me explain to students that they should aim to be "in the green" and not "in the red".
I have used this successfully with both formative and summative assessments.

These codes are used when grading students' writing. Each student has a copy of this document, so when they get their papers back, they get this document out and are able to understand what they need to do better next time. It makes grading quicker for teachers by not having to write out every word of feedback, but it gives students enough to know what to revise.

I've created a writing sample/activity specific rubric. It has visual supports and student friendly wording for self assessment. Teachers can label it with the type of writing and their requirements for the work. Students and teachers can mark the 1-3 point rubric on the following areas: Topic Idea, Sentence Detail, Length of Work, Handwriting, Capitalization, and Writing the words.
