I use this as a formative assessment, communication, check-in, and feedback tool. I get to give my students meaningful feedback each day. As I'm scoring, I write down names of students that can share their answer and give students the opportunity to listen and correct their page if they need to. Science Skills Observation and inference
This 1-2 class period lesson allows students to develop working definitions of the important skills, observation and inference. Using "mysterious" objects, students make factual observations and then use those to support reasonable inferences about the nature of the objects. Worksheet and formative assessment included.
