Scavenger hunts are a great way to get your students up and moving while working on their Math skills!
This scavenger hunt contains a mix of problems that require students to either convert a percent to a decimal or a decimal to a percent. It works great as practice or as a way to assess how well students can convert between decimals andpercents since it is so easy to check student's work during the activity.
To increase the rigor, I made a point to use many similar decimals (ie, 45, 4.5, 0
This math activity integrates both math and art. Students create a "fraction flower," with a fraction (in simplest form) as the flower's center. On the surrounding petals, students find three different equivalent fractions and both the percentand decimal conversion of the center fraction. Although it is an easy art project, it covers multiple state standards. It looks great on the wall for Back to School Nights or Open Houses!

For this game you will need two fly swatters. Two students stand at the board as someone clicks through the slides. First student to smack the correct equivalent number wins!
Can be used whole class with dry erase boards!

This is a one-page handout for students in fourth or fifth grade. Students will sort their Lucky Charms and then calculate the percentand fraction for each shape. I also had my students create a bar and circle graph representing the data. Students were also required to list the landmarks numbers. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) have been put in place to ensure that all students are college and career ready. Consequently, it is our responsibility as educators to provide students with the type of quality instruction that will enable them to successfully access the CCSS. This activity, “Bowling for Fractions, Decimals, andPercents”, is a fun way for educators and students to begin their daunting venture into the exciting world of the CCSS while simultaneously learning the connecti
cut these cards out and glue them into file folders cut into thirds. Number the pieces of folder to show the number of the question. Students must prenumber their paper. Post the folders around the room or on desks in consecutive order. TSW rotate around the classroom, with the teachers choice of time limit, and answer the questions. This can be used as a timed quiz or a class activity.
Shared math lesson, using the chart displaying the equivalent fraction, decimal andpercent. With students go through steps a and b to determine exactly how to reduce all fractions to their lowest form. Doing this several times in a guided math lesson, using either chart paper or a smart board students will begin to grasph how to reduce them using multiples. Have students complete the worksheet/chart to practice these skills, and showing the equivalent percentand decimal to match the given frac
This worksheet contains 5 examples of conversions. Students color in blocks in the diagram, then figure out the fraction, decimal, andpercent that it represents. (Denominators are basic, around a 4th grade level)

During our decimals unit (and after our fractions unit), I gave my 5th graders this fun activity. It allows them to practice turning fractions into decimals into percents by:
1) simplifying fractions to "easy" fractions (like 3/4),
2) making the fraction out of 100
3) dividing the numerator by the denominator
This was a great activity because it challenged the kids, provided a fun activity, and gave them great fraction, decimal, and even statistics practice! The kids loved doing this!
This lesson includes a lesson plan, guided interactive practice, and three differentiated levels of independent practice or assessment, and three answer keys.
Add, Subtract, Multiply, and Divide Decimals Practice Sheets. Answer key included! Completely editable! Use it as an exit ticket, quick formative assessment, center work, independent work, homework, etc!
Begin your lesson on benchmark fractions and decimal andpercent equivalents with a visual representation. Students will look at a pie graph fraction and identify it along with an equivalent decimal andpercent.
This activity looks at Easter candy and covers percent, proportions, and word problems with basic operations. Could be used with either 5th or 6th graders.
