Geometry Vocabulary Questions and Activities

Dear User, There are 16 questions at this moment, but as time goes on I am going to update this document to add more of each question type and also add a wider variety of questions.  This activity is a versatile assortment of vocabulary questions that are great to supplement any lesson. As a sophomore geometry teacher, I like to put this PowerPoint up and start class by asking students a vocabulary question. It acts as a great review and also helps students make connections between multiple voca

Lesson introduces quadrilateral characteristics including parallelograms, rhombus, square, rectangle and trapezoid. Slides prompt students to identify all names of a quadrilateral with the most specific name in red font. This increases in difficulty as the slides progress. At the end is a review of other polygons, including pentagon, hexagon, octagon and decagon.

This requires students to know the difference between length and width, while also increasing their reading comprehension as they must determine the size of the rectangle. This product includes worksheets and exit tickets, allowing you to immediately assess your students.

Intro to Distributive Property (order of operations, area models, variables)

This is Common Core (some standards on 2nd slide) If you allow students to access this themselves (granted you are 1:1), students learn on their own. This is foundational, and its purpose is to build students up and feel successful with the distributive property. If they didn't get order of operations or area models, that might happen here too. Follow this up with a short 4-5 question quiz. An extra practice sheet for those who need it. Then another 4-5 question quiz for students to improve

I display an answer key and lead into discussions about circles being defined as polygons with infinite sides and convex vs. concave polygons. (They soon

In the Drawing with Coordinates activity, students will create their own designs by plotting coordinate pairs on paper. They trade their list of coordinate pairs with a partner, who attempts to recreate the original image to see how accurate their algorithm was. Students then enter the same list of ordered pairs into the Coordinate Drawer web app and explore how changing points and reflections affect their designs.
