The Turtle, the Hare, and the Writing Contest - Small Group Readers' Theater
This Reader's Theater is for three students. We use it in class around Easter but it could be used anytime! It is a twisted version of the Tortoise and the Hare. The moral of the script is that it takes more than writing a lot and writing fast to make a good paper. As you can guess, my students were the inspiration for this one. This reader’s theater is a fractured fairy tale based on “The Little Red Hen”. Little Green Frog wants to make a fly pie for dinner. She asks her friends to help, but they are too busy.

Little Red Hen in Hawai‘i (Readers' Theater)
My students wanted a script set in Hawai‘i, so I modified The Little Red Hen. It’s still the same basic story; however I used local characters, setting, and some Hawaiian words. For example, the hen finds and plants lilikoi (passionfruit) seeds instead of wheat and the animals include a turtle and a mongoose.
