Yertle The Turtle Mock Trial
Students will read the story 'Yertle the Turtle' and then participate in this mock trial for their Social Studies class. Each student will be provided with a part (can accommodate entire classes as many students will be assigned to the jury) and a script to read from. Practicing parts is recommended for the trial to run smoothly.

The Turtle, the Hare, and the Writing Contest - Small Group Readers' Theater
This Reader's Theater is for three students. We use it in class around Easter but it could be used anytime! It is a twisted version of the Tortoise and the Hare. The moral of the script is that it takes more than writing a lot and writing fast to make a good paper. As you can guess, my students were the inspiration for this one. Too many feel that going fast and writing a lot will make their writing superior. In the script, Rabbit is fast at everything and likes to brag at school. Rabbit says

Little Green Frog - A Fractured Fairy Tale Reader's Theater
This reader’s theater is a fractured fairy tale based on “The Little Red Hen”. Little Green Frog wants to make a fly pie for dinner. She asks her friends to help, but they are too busy.
The cast of characters include: Narrator, Little Green Frog, Bitty Bat, Sammy Salamander, Timmy Turtle, and Chorus.
This script can be used by 7 students up to a whole class. This script is written for students in 2nd through 5th grade.

The Banana Bread Girl - A Fractured Fairy Tale Reader's Theater
This is a fractured fairy tale based on “The Gingerbread Man”. Banana Bread Girl comes out of the oven able to run, jump, and shout. She doesn’t want to be eaten so she runs away as fast as she can. She is running from Papa, Mama, the children, Monkey, Jaguar, and Python. Then she run into Crocodile who wants to help her. The reader's theater is created for a small group or a whole class. The Elephant's Child - Just So - Small Group Readers' Theater
This Reader's Theater is for 4 - 6 students. It is a Just-So story. In the script, the Elephant’s Child is always asking questions and everyone gets tired of hearing them.
