Engaging, hands-on, cell cycle checkpoint activity. Includes 8 pages of instructions, teacher script, worksheet, mutation cards, outcome cards, and answer key. In this activity students act as a mutated cell living in a human and they apply how the cell cycle checkpoints may (or may not) instruct them to go through apoptosis. Creates good discussion to myth-bust the misconceptions that all mutations are harmful/cancerous, and that the cell checkpoints catch all harmful mutations.
