Exploring Interest
Even when students can correctly calculate interest, I find they often don't quite understand what it is or how it is used in real life. This webquest has students investigate interest rates for different scenarios they will encounter in the future (car loans/student loans/savings accounts/etc.).
I use this to introduce the concept of interest and pair it with the BrainPop credit card and interest videos, quizzes, and activities using my school's subscription.

Virtual Road Trip
Great end-of-year research project. Designed for an English III class-but works well for Geography and Applied Math as well as Life Skills and Dollars and Sense. Includes 7 different itineraries, each with its own budget and vehicle. Evaluation Rubric included in the assignment. Student teams complete the requirements and share with the class. Teams can share one computer to complete the assignment as they use critical thinking skills to complete their virtual travels. Students love this a
