Students have to learn how to prove the Pythagorean Theorem to meet new Common Core standards. The usual way is to cut out squares made off of the two sides of a triangle and fit them into a larger square made on the hypotenuse. Why not use Geometry? This fun, sometimes silly Smart Board presentation shows students how the theorem was proven by President James Garfield. Students follow along, answering questions along the way.
