At the anniversary of 9/11 students can write a letter to thank first responders in their area. Letters can be mailed to police, fire, ambulance, sheriff, and even given to the school resource officer as a way for students to show their thanks for the work these men and women carry out. Students may need to be given a history lesson about 9/11 to learn about the events of that tragic day to inspire their writing.
