To start with: WHY CONCEPT questions? Because I have found, in teaching secondary students who never learned concepts at lower grades, that throwing concept questions at them requires them to think through what we are discussing--sometimes with no involvement of actually solving a particular problem numerically. In my classes, each student gets a unique quiz at the end of a topic and no one can predict who will get these "concept" questions!
