Marshmallow & Toothpick 3D Shape Practice

This product can be used to reinforce 3D shapes. I gave my students mini marshmallows (you could also use gum drops, Dots candy, etc.), toothpicks, and pipe cleaners (I cut the pipe cleaners in half). Students were to construct various 3D shapes using the marshmallows, toothpicks and pipe cleaners, trace the name of the shape, and record the amount of each material they used on their paper. Included in this product is a recording sheet and quiz.

This is a great activity to work on shape identification, fine motor strength, scissor skills, and puzzle/problem-solving skills! Have your students look at the completed fire truck and model how to make it. This can be teacher-led, where the teacher gives step-by-step directions (ie: "pick up the RECTANGLE and glue it on your paper" Put your hand on your head when you've done it".
