Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.

Transformations Interactive Notebook (Fall Themed).

This resource is a great introduction to transformations (translations, rotations, and reflections). I had my students cut out red, green, orange, and brown leaves using the template provided in the resource. Guided instruction was used to guide students through notes. It is a great way for students to visualize the different transformations. The resource includes an example of student work! Worked great with my 7th grade accelerated students. Let me know how it work's with your students.
